2021 repress!!! x-ray records catalogue is as under the radar as it is rich and ahead of its time. releasing between 1992 and 1994, most of the label s outputs were produced by raymond castoldi. although people primarily know castoldi for being the music director and organist in madison square garden, he also has a lesser known chapter of his life. in the early 1990s, raymond released 6 eps on his imprint x-ray records. by coupling his musical education with a four-on-the-floor club pattern, castoldi managed to create a jazzy vibe with spaceous sounds and keyboard jams, all coalescing into a relaxing atmosphere that would eventually become the signature sound of 90 s deep house. in partnership with castoldi, kalahari oyster cult delivers the goods once again: 11 tracks from the x-ray catalogue over a 3lp for your deejaying pleasure.

almost 10 years have passed since onra arrived with the charmingly eccentric chinoiseries lp. 32 hip-hop beats formed the sample-based project - dusty chinese vinyl hissing and crackling throughout � resulting in an intriguing and spontaneous mix of the producers interest in exploring a newly-discovered style of music with his love for classic hip-hop production.
using the style of analogue mpc production combined with the somewhat restrictive record sampling of strictly chinese music records, he has been able to be creative over three volumes, an amount of 100 instrumentals, despite the challenge of finding more obviously standout samples in chinese music.
the chinoiseries projects are the type of albums that invites the listener to play it from beginning to end, in order to really enjoy the trip and appreciate the variety of rhythms and textures spread over those 32 short instrumentals. in that way, �pt.3� is no different to its predecessors, but the originality of the samples, the curious harmonies and the odd-drum patterns still makes the album sounds as fresh as the first one.
onra finishes this epic trilogy with class as a result of extended record digging across the far east and the producer s own development over the preceding 10 years.
as a producer who has released records inspired by 80�s funk, 90�s hip-hop and r�n�b, electronic and even a spiritual jazz project, �pt. 3� brings this stylised set to a close.

italian producer alfredo mazzilli presents us with logical strength, his second ep on weekend circuit. across 4 tracks he expresses his own unique take on the deepest strains of techno and it s outer reaches. ep opener logical strength is a throbbing piece of driving, menacing wormhole music with heavy arpeggiated sounds and rock solid, incessant drum-programming, leaving nothing standing in it s wake it is a firm statement of intent. nuvole sees the pace change slightly, adopting more of an eerie, borderline hallucinatory feel. the track unfolds beautifully with heavenly pads and synth swells draped across some tribally infused drums. on side 2 we have a stellar remix of nuvole from eminent swedish producer evigt mörker who travels a more subdued, sedate path with his interpretation. finishing off this 4 track excursion we are drawn into the beatless, introspective terrain of parhelion . a beautifully nuanced and subtle way to close things. washes of synth and atmosphere embrace us as we travel onwards, deeper into the night. alfredo mazzilli shows us once again his own individual and unique style on this ep, another essential chapter in the weekend circuit story.

following the big success of the tmng001 catalogue, label-head yaya strikes back on his own label with another wicked release. his second ep called �unconditional love� also features the first tamango remixer ever and we�re more than proud to have �panorama bar� lady cassy on board. the ep kicks off the things with entitled �unconditional love� which features yaya�s typical trademark groove with some extra great tribal-drums contaminations combined with a great caribbean-oriented female chant, giving life to a proper dancefloor burner. a2 is about cassy. she has been into the music industry since 2003 when she moved to berlin and she�s fresh of her latest album �donna� on �aus music� last year. she provides a beautiful and heavier interpretation of �unconditional love�, adding crisp percussions and pure analogic spatial pad, creating a dreamlike dimension surrounded by the massif utilization of pitched endless vocals. the b-side contains the dub version of �unconditional love� for the ones who need a precise and outspoken tool without the vocal part. closing the ep is �lone wolf� which is the prove to dispel any doubt on yaya�s producing skills: the track immediately approaches into softer sonority with nimble analogic and syncopated synths and rapid drums, with hi-hats and shakers only, for another tamango unmissable chapter.

bqd40.3 features some new label signings that hint at the label�s future musical direction. first up is giuliano lomonte, who delivers an unbeatable groove courtesy of �reflections�. on the b is jorge gamarra & gulp from the sur label collective, who weave a tight combination of broken beats and 4x4 rhythms on �valve�, a track that comes complete with swelling synths and a modern, house flourish. closing off the package is another member of the sur collective crew, formas, whose track, �prisma�, really does take the listener on a proverbial journey. a real synth-infused masterpiece, it�s proof indeed that the next chapter in the brouqade story looks set to be every bit as exciting as what�s come before.
